Garcinia

Garcinia (Garcinia gummi-gutta) is a tree that grows in India and Southeast Asia. The fruit rind contains a chemical called hydroxycitric acid (HCA). HCA used in dietary supplements usually comes from garcinia. It might prevent fat storage, control appetite, and increase exercise endurance. But it’s unclear if these effects occur in humans. People commonly use garcinia for obesity, athletic performance, joint pain, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.Don’t confuse garcinia with gamboge, Malabar nut, mangosteen, or tamarind. These are not the same.

Pepper

Our Sri Lankan black pepper has a quick bite and a lingering aroma. We select only high density, early harvest berries deep black in color.

High density is a sign of a pepper that has been harvested at the right time and that has been properly cured and dried. The dark color is indicative of an early harvest, when the fresh peppercorns are still yellow-green in color. Black peppercorns harvested at that stage have a fleeting hotness and a fresh taste. A quality pepper for your pepper mill.

Nutmeg & Mace

Mace is a spice that comes from the covering of the nutmeg seed. It is a delicate, lacy material that is removed from the nutmeg seed and dried to form a reddish-orange, web-like covering called a blade.Mace has a warm, sweet, and slightly bitter flavor that is similar to, but slightly milder than, nutmeg. It is used in a variety of dishes, including baked goods, soups, sauces, and stews, to add flavor and aroma
It is also believed to have digestive and anti-inflammatory effects, and may help improve cognitive function and sleep quality.

Nutmeg whole with shell

Whole nutmeg with shell is the unprocessed form of nutmeg, which includes both the nutmeg seed and its protective covering, called the mace. Nutmeg and mace are two separate spices, with nutmeg being the seed and mace being the delicate, lacy covering. Whole nutmeg with shell can be stored for a long time, making it a convenient ingredient to have on hand. To use nutmeg, the shell must be cracked open and the seed inside removed. The seed can then be grated to release its warm, sweet, and slightly bitter flavor, which is commonly used in baking, soups, sauces, and stews. The mace can also be removed and dried to be used as a separate spice.

Cloves

Cloves are the dried, unopened flower buds of the evergreen clove tree. They are small, nail-shaped and have a strong, sweet, and slightly bitter flavor and aroma. They are commonly used as a spice in cooking, particularly in savory dishes like meat, stews, and soups, as well as in baking, particularly in spice cakes, pumpkin pies, and other holiday treats. In addition, cloves have been used for centuries as a natural remedy for a variety of health concerns, as they are believed to have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as being a natural remedy for digestive issues.
